James A. Lawrence Jr.'s Obituary
James A. Lawrence Jr., 90, of Tampa passed away on March 28, 2020.
Jimmy was born on August 20, 1929 to the late Carrie S. Lawrence and James A. Lawrence Sr.
He was born and raised in Tampa and graduated from Jefferson High School. He was a veteran of the Navy Reserves and the US Army. He had an early interest in music and played steel guitar in several local bands. After 34 years as a lineman, he retired from Tampa Electric Company. He loved camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and was a proud member of the Sprott Hunting Club. He was a longtime member of Idlewild Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years Warrene Switzer Lawrence, his sisters Dorothy and Betty, and son Jim Lawrence.
He is survived by his sons Rev. Gary W. Lawrence (Martha) and Kenneth A. Lawrence; grandchildren Jessie Schuster (Jessica), Brittani Campbell (Ryan), Nathan Lawrence (Samantha), Bria Goldberg (Greg), Ben Lawrence (Anna), Hannah Lawrence, Mallory Lawrence; and great-grandchildren Andrew, Harliegh, Storm, Nicholas, and Stone.
He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in a private family service.
