James P Hawkins Jr's Obituary
James (Jim) Paul Hawkins, Jr., 84, of Land O' Lakes, FL, passed away on February 13, 2025. Jim was born in Decatur, Illinois, and lived in Eustis, Brandon, Tampa, and Brooksville before settling in Land O' Lakes in 2012. His early career was in the automotive industry, where he worked as a mechanic and Service and Parts Manager for various Tampa car dealerships, while also beginning to invest in real estate. In 1983, he founded J Hawk Enterprises, a property management and home/commercial repair and maintenance business. Jim’s passion for all things automotive led him to open Quality Paint and Body Shop in Tampa. He later owned and operated Tampa Transport Supreme Towing in Tampa before selling the towing business and retiring in 2021.
Jim had a deep love for animals and enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly when it involved boating or riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Paul Hawkins, Sr.; his mother and stepfather, Frances Irene and John Morgan Newberry; his son, Timothy James Hawkins; and his son-in-law, Kevin Michael Hughes. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Hawkins, with whom he shared over 30 years together, his daughters: Tamara Flournory (Geoffrey), Taunya Baker (Kent), Jennifer Hughes and six grandchildren: Joshua Lopez, Jeremy Baker, Jessica Baker, Morgan Flournory, Connor Flournory, and Madison Lopez.
Visitation will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa on February 19, 2025, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., followed by a graveside service.
