James Bond Gibson III's Obituary
James Bond Gibson III, 89, passed away July 20, 2015. He was born July 5, 1926 in Tampa, Florida to the late James Bond Gibson, Jr. who was the namesake for the town of Gibsonton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gene; brothers, George and John; sisters, Lula Blake and Marie.
James served our country in the US Navy and was a member of the Temple Terrace Community Church. He was a lifelong resident of Hillsborough County and started Florida Bowling Lanes back in the early 60’s. In the 70’s he began serving families in his 35 year career here at Sunset Memory Gardens cemetery. He served in sales, becoming manager of sales and eventually the general manager of the entire operation here in Thonotosassa.
When he wasn’t helping people, Jim enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, visiting northern states during the leaves changing color and visiting his hunting lodge in Virginia.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Rick Gibson and his wife Kathryn of Tampa and Randal Gibson of Temple Terrace; sister, Joanne Johnson of Tampa; sister-in-law Betty Gibson of Tampa; and many loved nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 24th, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 followed by entombment in Sunset Memory Gardens.
