James Percival Campbell's Obituary
James Percival Campbell’s life began in Kingston, Jamaica on December 15, 1944 and he took his rest in Brandon, Florida on December 16, 2023.
He dedicated his life to God at an early age, professing his life to Christianity, the path he continued to walk. His early education was completed in Jamaica, with advanced education towards his engineering profession completed in New York.
James was an engineer with Johnson Controls where he maintained the Twin Towers building functionality, ultimately, becoming a 9-11 survivor when the towers collapsed in 2001.
James was often referred to as “Jimmy Neutron”, because of his affinity for computers. With his tech savvy skills, he designed quite the Smart House, with every new state of the art technology advancement available. He also shared the love of nature’s beauty with his wife, Phununda in their incredible garden. He helped nurture new plantings and enjoyed watching them flourish into an exotic Victorian garden they created together over the years.
James is preceded in death by his father, James Campbell, Sr, and mother, Iris Maud Campbell.
James leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife and soulmate, Phununda; his children, Donna, Kelly and Steve Campbell, France Downer, Valerie Moodee, Tomeka Tomlinson, and Shannon Pugh; his siblings, Cynthia Mitchell, Beverly Williams, Grethel Maharaj, Donald Campbell, Velma Cunningham, and Peter Campbell; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US Hwy 301, Thonotosassa FL 33592, on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 12 – 2 pm.
