Jackye Lynn Mathews' Obituary
Jackye Lynn Mathews, 74, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on March 3, 2026. Born on October 18, 1951, in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Harry Dwight Olson and Katherine Elaine Olson.
In her prime, Jackye was a woman of vibrant style. A true "material girl," she lived for a fresh manicure, a trip to the hair salon, and the thrill of finding a hidden gem at a local flea market. Alongside her late husband, she took immense pride in their home, cultivating a gorgeous yard that was a testament to her natural green thumb.
Jackye’s personality was as eclectic as her interests. She was a dedicated fan of Michael Jackson and old-school music, and she could pivot effortlessly from the comfort of Little House on the Prairie to the adrenaline of a scary movie. Her perfect night involved the simple joys: a plate of Chinese takeout and a bowl of ice cream.
Professionally, she worked as a Human Resources Officer, where her sharp eye for detail—honed through years of conducting background checks—made her a natural at staying "in the know" regarding the latest stories and gossip. Though severe back pain and surgeries eventually forced her to step away from work and her beloved gardening, she remained a woman of strong opinions and a spirited heart.
Jackye’s greatest legacy is her family. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine; her son, Jeremy; and her sisters, Karen and Joanne. Deeply devoted to her family, Jackye adopted and raised her youngest grandson, Joshua, as her own son. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Curtis, Jackye, Brittany, Amanda, Josie, Kate, Jordan, and Bryce and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Dale Mathews, her son Matthew, and her brother Kevin.
