With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Hector Saavedra, who left this world on February 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.
Born on April 29, 1957, Hector carried Colombia in his heart everywhere he went. He never forgot his roots, his culture, and the values that shaped him. Family was his foundation, and love was his language.
He was the light of every family gathering, the one cracking jokes, telling stories, and making sure everyone around him was smiling. To many, he was more than a relative or friend; he was a father figure, a steady presence, and a source of warmth. His laughter filled rooms and his spirit brought people together.
Hector was a hardworking and devoted husband and father. His greatest pride and deepest joy were his family, his beloved wife Luisa Saavedra, his son Anthony Saavedra, and his daughter Caroline Saavedra. Everything he did was for them. His love was protective, constant, and unwavering.
He loved the ocean and the peace it brought him. He loved music, especially when it meant dancing or celebrating with family. He loved soccer, cheering with passion and pride. He had an affinity for poetry, drawn to words that captured life’s depth and emotion. Fishing held a special place in his heart. It was where he reflected on life, where he slowed down, and where some of the deepest and most meaningful conversations with him took place.
He also loved playing the lottery, always believing that maybe this time would be the big win. Though he never hit the jackpot, he won something far greater: a life rich in love, a family who adored him, and what we trust is the most beautiful resting place in heaven.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at:

On March 21st at 1:00 PM EST.
As previously shared with family, Hector will be cremated and his urn will be present for loved ones who wish to spend quiet moments in reflection before the ceremony begins. The service will follow Roman Catholic traditions and will be led by a priest. After the ceremony, family and friends will gather in the same location to share food, stories, and memories in his honor.
He will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and remembered not only for his strength and dedication, but for the joy he brought into every room he entered.

Con el corazón lleno de tristeza, compartimos la partida de Héctor Saavedra, quien dejó este mundo el 22 de febrero de 2026, después de una valiente batalla contra el cáncer. Tenía 68 años.
Nacido el 29 de abril de 1957, Héctor llevó a Colombia en su corazón a dondequiera que fuera. Nunca olvidó sus raíces, su cultura ni los valores que lo formaron. La familia fue su base, y el amor, su lenguaje.
Era la luz de cada reunión familiar, el que contaba chistes, compartía historias y se aseguraba de que todos a su alrededor estuvieran sonriendo. Para muchos fue más que un familiar o un amigo; fue una figura paterna, una presencia firme y una fuente de alegría. Su risa llenaba los espacios y su espíritu unía a las personas.
Héctor fue un esposo y padre trabajador y profundamente dedicado. Su mayor orgullo y alegría fueron su familia: su amada esposa Luisa Saavedra, su hijo Anthony Saavedra y su hija Caroline Saavedra. Todo lo que hacía, lo hacía por ellos. Su amor fue protector, constante e inquebrantable.
Amaba el mar y la paz que este le brindaba. Amaba la música, especialmente cuando significaba bailar o celebrar con la familia. Amaba el fútbol, alentando con pasión y orgullo. Tenía una afinidad especial por la poesía, atraído por palabras que capturaban la profundidad y la emoción de la vida. La pesca ocupaba un lugar muy especial en su corazón. Era allí donde reflexionaba sobre la vida, donde desaceleraba y donde se dieron algunas de las conversaciones más profundas y significativas con él.
También disfrutaba jugar la lotería, siempre con la ilusión de que ese sería el gran premio. Aunque nunca ganó el premio mayor, ganó algo mucho más grande: una vida llena de amor, una familia que lo adoraba y, confiamos, el lugar más hermoso de descanso en el cielo.

Como se informó previamente a la familia, Héctor será cremado y su urna estará presente para que los seres queridos puedan compartir un momento de reflexión antes de que comience la ceremonia. El servicio seguirá las tradiciones de la Iglesia Católica Romana y será dirigido por un sacerdote. Después de la ceremonia, familiares y amigos se reunirán en el mismo lugar para compartir comida, recuerdos e historias en su honor.
Será profundamente extrañado, eternamente recordado y siempre apreciado, no solo por su fortaleza y dedicación, sino por la alegría que llevaba a cada lugar al que entraba.
