Grover "Todd" Pippin Jr.'s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Grover Theodore “Todd” Pippin Jr. announce his passing after a brief illness on March 1, 2018.
Todd will be lovingly remembered by his wife Janet Pippin, his children Grover Theodore Pippin III, Samantha Land, Rachel Land, Kimberly Land, and William Todd Pippin.
Papa, as he was known to his grandchildren, Paul, Koby, Arieella, and Sydney will forever be held in their hearts.
Todd was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. He worked for Hillsborough County Public Schools as a School Bus Safety Inspector (mechanic). Most of his life he was a truck driver.
Todd was an opinionated and passionate man. To know him was to remember him. He was fond of cooking and shopping. That distinct voice and tough exterior on first impression concealed a huge and generous heart and soul. He could be heard at his grandson’s football games, cheering and interjecting. Todd’s love of food and cooking brought many happy faces and full bellies.
Papa had a never wavering and infinite love for his grandkids. They were the true meaning of joy for him. Papa made sure his grandkids did not go without and did so without any need of recognition. Pure and generous was his nature. He always called himself a family man.
Todd’s other great love was my mom, Janet. He guarded her wellbeing with every last breath. His love for her knew no boundaries. They could bicker like the best of them, but he’d always kiss her goodnight.
Todd was a great step dad to myself and my sisters. He made sure we had everything we needed. Opening his arms to three nearly pre-teen girls was not easy but he did so without a hesitation. He was always there for us.
Todd is loved very deeply by his family. Anytime we see a can of Pepsi and a bag of peanuts, we will think of him. Anywhere a cackling laughter is heard, we will hear him. He filled our lives with love and he will always be remembered and carried in our hearts. Rest in peace, Doc, Sandman, Papa.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00am at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.sunset-fh.com.
