To my Grandma, even though for over 2/3 of my life you lived 1100 miles away I always felt a closeness with you. It was many years that went by after you moved that I finally got to see you, and it was like you had never moved away. I was always updated with things going on with you from my dad. He always was sure to have two parts of a conversation in, how the weather sucked in Chicago, and how Grandma was doing. I was so happy to see you when we could when we would travel to Florida, or when Dad brought you here one summer. We made sure to send you calendar every year with the yearly events for each month so you could feel like you were a part of our life up here in Illinois. I will cherish the little time we spent with you due to the distance and I am glad my daughters will have great memories of your wittiness. It must have been fate when we named Grace, Grace Evelyn Mitchell, we gave her your name as her middle to honor you, but when my dad told me your middle name was Grace my heart was filled. Every time I hear or say my Graces name I think of that moment time. You will be missed by all, love your Grandson, Gary.
