Embry "Vance" Cox's Obituary
Embry Vance Cox, 84, passed away December 12, 2017. He was born January 29, 1933 in Gastonia, NC to the late Evelyn Cox. He came to Tampa in 1958 from Charlotte, NC and was a member of citylife church. He served our country in the US Army where he received a Purple Heart during his time in Korea.
Vance managed an Eckerd Drug Store for many years and enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He was an avid Bucs and Tampa Bay Rays fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Molly; son, Rick Cox of Tampa; daughters, Susan Rawls and her husband Wayne of Brandon; and Tamie Myers and her husband Richard of Louisville, Kentucky; brother, Fred Lee and his wife Toni of Tampa; grandchildren, Ricky, Heather and her husband Chris, Rachel, Emily and Alex.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, December 14th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the citylife church, 8411 N. Dale Mabry Avenue in Tampa. Funeral service will begin at 7:00. Interment with Army Military Honors will be Friday, December 15th at 2:30 pm at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
