Elvira Olivia Hernandez's Obituary
Elvira Olivia Hernandez, lovingly known as “Pita” was born on May 25, 1947 to Manuel Hernandez Rodriguez and Maria Rivera Soto in Moca, Puerto Rico. Olivia moved to Tampa, Florida in 1974.
Olivia was a devoted Mother and was committed to providing a safe, loving environment for her children. Her favorite activities, included, cooking, sewing, gardening, and fishing. She made the best arroz con gandules and everything she cooked tasted amazing. She had a passion for cooking and gardening. She loved the outdoors and had many plants and trees, such as, mango, pineapple, papaya and even gandules. Most of all, she loved to cook for her family.
Olivia battled with congestive heart failure along with other challenging health issues. In 2023 she had to undergo the first of four hip replacements. In the last year and a half she was in and out of the hospital, she endured intensive care but the Lord’s mercy and divine intervention were evident in the face of adversity. Despite, several poor prognoses from Doctors, the Lord continued to sustain her. She always looked to the Lord for strength. She prayed and believed in the power of prayer.
She is survived by her children Javier, Cely and her husband Angel, Edgar, Monica and her husband Jose, Moises and Gesenia, and grandchildren Angel and his wife Vicky, Veronica, Charlie and his wife Kisha, Jose, Victoria, Lilly, Olivia “Livy” and Gianna, and great grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a fighter and will be missed by all of us forever.
