Edgar Martinez's Obituary
Edgar Martinez, 69, passed away February 11, 2016. He was born January 16, 1947 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late Felix and Mary L. (Santos) Martinez. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert and his companion for 17 years, Sylvia Dzugen.
Edgar came to Tampa in the late 70’s from NYC. He was a Baptist and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was an avid coin collector and had an incredible collection of miniature die cast cars and also the most amazing set of baseball cards.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Madelyn of Austin, Texas; Yvonne and Carol of NYC; siblings, Myrna Otera, Felix Martinez and his wife Myrta and Isabel Townsend, all of Sun City Center, Florida; Ruth Maher of Cleveland, Ohio; Edwin Martinez of Tampa and Dr. Timothy Hodge; Diane Diaz of Valrico and Vincent (& Jana) Martinez of Clearwater, Florida; 2 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment and military honors will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 2:00 pm.
