Duane William Chamness' Obituary
Duane William Chamness, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 1, 1926 in Logan, Iowa to Daniel Lester Newcomb and Hattie Ellen (Ball) Newcomb.
Duane went to be with his wife Ruby (Taylor) Chamness and son Lam Ray Yarbrough. He is survived by his children; Tommy (Carol) Yarbrough, Margaret (Scott) Sullivan, Richard “Sandy” (Shirley)Walker, Susan Walker, Gwen Blanchard and Tim (Debbie) Walker. Grandchildren; Matt, Mark, Lam Ray Jr., Michael, Debra, Karen, Zack, Lisa, Sherry, Ingrid, Richard, Kristina, Duane, Sonny, Melissa, April, Jeremy, Timmy, Billy and Johnny; Thirty-three great grandchildren and even a few great great grandchildren.
He proudly served in the Army, as well as, the Air Force, but went on to retire from Delta Airlines. In his later years he served as a Door Greeter at Walmart, where he made many dear friends! He loved telling stories and asking questions. He enjoyed watching football, cooking chicken gizzards, and always making sure his beloved dogs were very well fed and cared for.
