Dora Ann Martellaci Gandy's Obituary
Dora Anna Martellacci Gandy of Temple Terrace, FL, passed peacefully away on Tuesday, October 4. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Dora was devoted above all else to her family. Born in Altoona, PA, on November 26, 1928, Dora was the seventh of eight children. Upon graduating from Altoona High School in 1946 she began her career with Bell Telephone as a telephone operator. She moved to Miami in 1955 where she connected overseas calls for US businessmen and dignitaries to Caribbean and Latin leaders. In 1960 she met and married the love of her life, Charles Robert Gandy, and became a dedicated homemaker following the birth of their first child. The family moved to Temple Terrace in 1977. Dora is preceded in death by her three brothers (Warren, Nick, and Daniel Martellacci) and four sisters (Frances Freet, Edith Tortoreo, Lena DeRasmo, and Mufalda Scalzi). Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Charles "Bob" Robert Gandy, daughter Lisa Gandy Wargo (Joe) of Atlanta, GA and her son Charles "Chuck" Robert Gandy Jr. of Bloomingdale, FLfive grandchildren: Kayla and Sarina Gandy of Bloomingdale, FL and Sydney, Joseph, and Frances Wargo of Atlanta, GA and one great grandson Rylan Gandy of Bloomingdale.
The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 3 PM, followed by a service at 3 PM, Friday October 7 at Sunset Funeral Home 11005 US Highway 301 N, Thonotosassa, FL. Internment will be private.
