Donald Glenn Hartley's Obituary
Donald Glenn Hartley, 70, of Lakeland, FL, passed away peacefully at the Lakeland Hospice House on 3/3/2024 at 5:44 PM.
Donald was born on 05/24/1953 in Dayton, Ohio to John Hartley and Yvonne Hartley. He was one of four children: David Hartley, Joyce Joiner and Douglas Hartley.
On 8/8/1970 he was married to Patricia Ann Hartley in Kernersville, NC who he spent his life with before her passing.
He served as a Specialists in the Unites States Army from May 27, 1971 to May 23, 1974. He received a National Defense Service Medal as a M-16 Sharpshooter and was honorably discharged.
He went by Bear during his working years but earned the nickname Pepaw once becoming a grandparent. He loved music, dancing, history, football, golf and animals. He spent most of his days listening to music, watching movies, playing video games or on social media. He was a very generous person who had a great love for his family and friends. He taught us all to be strong, independent and to work for everything you want. Most of all he taught us the importance of love and forgiveness.
Donald was preceded in death by his father John Hartley, mother Yvonne Hartley, younger brother Douglas Hartley, older brother David Hartley and his niece Vanessa Hartley.
Donald is survived by his sister Joyce Joiner, children Donald G. Hartley Jr, Lisa C. Lindenschmidt, Jason D. Hartley, Grandchildren Holly Tyson, Kirk Hartley, Roger Hartley, Devin Hartley, Jason Hartley Jr along with six great grandchildren.
A Service will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US-301 Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
