Dixie D. Aurand's Obituary
Dixie D. Aurand, 85, of Leesburg, Georgia died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Leesburg after a short illness. Born in Kansas in 1931 she moved to Tampa, Florida in 1966 where she resided until 2014 when she moved to Leesburg, Georgia to resided with her daughter, Norma Howell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, army 1st Sgt. E-8 Ret. Norman G. Aurand of Nora, Illinois, her sister, Joann Gay of Topeka, Kansas and her daughter-in-law Mary Scheuerman of Zephyrhills, Florida.
She was a native of Junction City, Kansas and after marrying Norman G. Aurand lived for a short while in Hawaii. After her husband’s retirement from the army, her family moved to Tampa, Florida where she worked and retired from Winn-Dixie Supermarket in Tampa after eighteen years.
She is survived by two children. Her son, Bruce L. Scheuerman of Zephyrhills, Florida and her daughter, Norma J. Howell (George) of Leesburg, Georgia.
Two brothers: Nyal Jennings (Agnes) of Lindsborg, Kansas and Stewart Jennings (Christel) of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A brother-in-law, Raymond Aurand of Dothan, Alabama.
Four grandsons: Norman Scheuerman (Alison) and Brett Scheuerman both of Zephyrhills, Florida. Joshua Howell (Morgan) and David Howell (Tammy) both of Leesburg, Georgia.
Three great grandchildren: Granddaughters, Savannah Scheuerman and Amelia Peeples both of Zephyrhills, Florida. David Howell, Jr. (Brittany) of Leesburg, Georgia.
Two great-great granddaughters: Kinsley and Kamrie Howell of Leesburg, Georgia.
She will be interned next to her beloved husband, “Punchy”, at Sunset Memory Gardens in Tampa, Florida on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
