I worked with David Militello for many years at Tampa Electric Company. He was a Machinist of the highest order and possessed mechanical and machining skills that were admired by all who had the privilege of working with him. I learned from him the virtues of patience while standing at a machine tool waiting for it to accomplish its task. I learned many of my skills from him and from others who I had the privilege of serving as an apprentice. David was a humble and soft spoken man. He was a kind and loving father to his two beautiful daughters Adele and Renee and a loving husband to his wonderful wife Bobbie. David loved to fish and to spend time outdoors in his spare time. His sense of humor was remarkable and long lasting. I remember once asking David if I could throw my cast net from the cross Florida barge canal bridge? He was very familiar with that area and that bridge. He stated why sure I could, if I wanted to. Sometime later, I went to that bridge for that same purpose, only to discover the bridge was about 80 feet off the water. Brenda looked at me and said, well he did say that you could throw your net off the bridge. You just need a very long rope to get it back. David was always busy in his shop out behind his house. He loved wood working, rebuilding old Ford pick-up trucks and was ready to help out anyone who needed a hand. His smile and good natured spirit was contagious. Mr. David J. Militello will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace dear friend. Paul & Brenda Lofton
