Claudia Cyrus Shepherd's Obituary
Claudia Cyrus Shepherd, 88, passed away February 6, 2016. She was born October 23, 1927 in Middletown, Ohio to the late Millard Filmore Maloney and Lillie Bell (Rose) Maloney. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hayes Shepherd, Sr.; sons, Homer (Butch) Hayes Shepherd, Jr. and Danny J. Shepherd; and daughter, Claudia Darlene Shepherd.
Claudia was raised in a Christian household in Middletown, Ohio, followed by a move to Ferndale, Michigan, retirement in Temple Terrace, Florida and after her husband passed away she moved to Texas to live with her Son and Family. About 3 years ago the whole family moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina. She attended the Wake Forest Baptist Church in North Carolina. She was an avid reader and loved to travel all over the world. In addition to raising 8 children, she worked for 27 years in the Hazel Park Clubhouse in Michigan.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Connie Rozman of Michigan; David Shepherd and his wife Terry of Florida; Donny Shepherd and his wife Cheryl of Oklahoma; Debbie Compagna and her husband Darryl of Michigan; and Darren Shepherd and his wife Lorie of North Carolina whom she lived with for the past 14 years; sisters, Joy Taylor of Ohio and Annette Elliot of Michigan; and 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 11:00 to 1:00 at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592. Funeral will begin at 1:00 followed by interment in Sunset Memory Gardens with reception immediately following. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.sunset-fh.com.
