Charles Robert Gandy Sr.'s Obituary
Charles Robert "Bob" Gandy Sr. (87) of Temple Terrace passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. A loving father and grandfather, Bob was known for his kind heart and easy going spirit. He loved volunteering and spent many years involved in the Temple Terrace Kiwanis Club serving as president, treasurer, and secretary among other roles. A member of Corpus Christi Church for 40 years, Bob was involved in the Knights of Columbus. After serving as an Army private during the Korean War, Bob attended and graduated from the University of Florida with an accounting degree in 1956. He spent several years with Ernst & Ernst in Miami before moving to Tampa to join Peoples Gas' tax department, where he eventually served as director of taxation.
In 1960, Bob met and married the love of his life, Dora Anna Martellacci. He was born in Clermont, FL, and graduated from Leesburg High in 1946. Bob is preceded in death by his wife Dora and brother, Lonnie Gandy. He is survived by sisters Sylva Padgett of Graceville and Mary Taylor of McDonough, GA; his daughter Lisa Gandy Wargo (Joe) of Atlanta; son Charles Robert Gandy Jr. of Bloomingdale; five grandchildren, Sydney, Joseph and Frances Wargo of Atlanta, and Kayla and Sarina Gandy of Bloomingdale; and one great grandson Rylan Gandy of Bloomingdale.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 14, at 11 a.m. followed by a service at noon at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 US Highway 301 N., Thonotosassa. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9827-9841 N. 56 Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617.
