Celia Sanchez Guzman's Obituary
Celia Sanchez Guzman, 95, passed away June 22, 2016. She was born August 31, 1920 in Corozal, Puerto Rico to the late Rogelio Sanchez and Philomena Guzman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Luciano Rivera; son-in-law, Luis; and granddaughters, Stephanie and Marlo.
Celia came to Zephyrhills in 2013 from Melborne. She was Baptist and a member of the Alliance Club, the DAV and was chairman of the First Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City. She published a book of her poetry and was a writer of Christian songs. Celia worked as a seamstress by trade and made all the choir robes for her church.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Luciano Rivera, Jr. of Pembrook Pines; and Wilfredo Rivera and his wife Irene of Thonotosassa; daughters, Myrta Celia Rivera and her husband Rafael Colon of Wesley Chapel; and Olga Munoz of Zephyrhills; brother, Herminio Sanchez of Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Tonya, Joey, Eric, Daniel and Damaris; great grandchildren, Nichole, Jessica, Sara, Alexa, Sean, Noah, Emory, Stormie, Natasha, Sarah, Joey and Mekala; great great grandchildren, Mailaina, Ian and Gauge.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Tampa, Florida 33592. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.sunset-fh.com.
