Carroll B. Herring's Obituary
Carroll “Bryan” Herring passed away on November 16,2022. Bryan was born on January 14, 1935 to parents Frank and Eunice Herring in Dillon, South Carolina. His siblings are Yvonne Larkins and Larry (Sara) Herring. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1972 and met Judith “Judy” Eller Whiddon at Temple Heights Baptist Church. They married on August 4,1972. He and Judy taught Sunday School at Temple Heights Baptist Church and drove the bus to take children to and from church. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in August of this year.
Bryan is survived by his wife as well as their five children: Kim (Earl) Bias, Denise Herring, Bryan Herring, Lauri (Darryl) Foshee, and Scott (Sherry) Whiddon. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Melani (Steve) February, Scott Garrison, Cheryl Lynn (Dave) Talbott-Hall, Jeremy (Christine) Talbott, Robert Bias, Justin Bias, Danielle (Robert) Rosenfeld, Nathan (Casey) Foshee, Ashley Morris, and Lesley Whiddon and 14 great grandchildren.
Bryan served in the Army from 1956-1958 in the 82nd Airborne Division. He took his passion for adventure and worked for Stromberg-Carlson installing telephone systems around the world, from Malaysia to Brazil to Cuba and throughout the United States. He retired from the industry after 35 + years of service. Bryan found joy in many things: music, art, family, and explorations. He loved playing the bass guitar and was a part of a band, called the Jetty Jumpers, for most of his young adult years. He also was always dancing whenever there was a rhythm or a dance floor, specifically, a dance called The Shag. Bryan was a talented artist, who had a gift for painting, charcoal and sketch drawings, along with refurbishing family heirlooms.
He epitomized what it meant to be a family man. He loved nothing more than hosting pool parties and family events at his home and always had a joke, a laugh, or a prank in the works. Bryan never met a stranger and had a warmth and joy to him that would make any one feel like family.
A celebration of Bryan’s life will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens 11005 US 301, Thonotosassa FL on November 26, 2022. There will be a visitation from 12-1pm followed by the service at 1pm followed by a graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Hope Children’s Home, a ministry that Bryan had supported since its inception. Donations to Hope Children’s Home can be made on-line at Donate to Hope Children’s Home | Hope Children’s Home (raisedonors.com) in his honor or mailed to 11415 Hope International Drive, Tampa, FL 33625.
His life verse is John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
