Carol W. Hennessee's Obituary
Carol Wertman Hennessee, age 74, went to be with her Lord on June 10, 2022. She was surrounded by family and friends until her peaceful passing to meet Jesus and her true love Rob in heaven.
Carol was born on August 19, 1947 in Tampa Municipal Hospital (Tampa General) to Oliver B. Wertman and Stella C. Wertman of rural Tampa. She attended Mango Elementary School and Horrace Mann Junior High where she was active in 4H. She was a 1965 graduate of Brandon High School where she proudly played in the Superior Rated marching band and was also a teachers assistant.She and Rob were married just 10 days after graduation on June 19th.
Carol was employed by Dutch Pantry Restaurants, General Telephone, Hillsborough County Schools as a teachers aid and library assistant. She also was very active in the Kenly Elementary PTO serving as President and Halloween Carnival Chairman. Carol was also employed at Quality Meat Market and then finally Co-Owner of Rob Hennessee Auctioneers with Rob for 32 years. She was in charge of auction set up, concessions and worked as a Ringmaster on auction nights. She was an avid collector of Candlewick Depression glass by Imperial and also loved her pet peacocks. Her favorite affectionately known as Pretty Boy.
She was a member of the State Highway Baptist Church from the tender age of 2 where she was saved by profession of faith, baptized and eventually married in the church. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Rob, and her parents Oliver and Stella Wertman.
She is survived by her brother Robert Alan Wertman and wife Sherry of Plant City, niece Amber Wertman of Tampa, Brittany Wertman of Valrico, great niece Cali Sampson of Valrico, nephew Robby Wertman of Plant City. She is also survived by her daughter Nancy (Sam) Ashmore of Dover, Rebecca Weller of Dover, grandchildren Clayton Ashmore, Brandy Ashmore, Hennessee Weller and Ava Weller. She loved her auction and church families.
The family is planning a joint celebration of life and diner for Carol and Rob to be determined at a future date. The family will be sending announcements for the celebration in the near future.
