She loved her bonus sons and daughters very much Jose, Pablo, Lucy and Rosie. They each played a special part in her life that couldn’t have been done by anyone else. God knew exactly what he was doing when he decided to pencil them in to be a part of her life-story.
She gave her life to Christ in 1970 and lived out the rest of her life as a sacrifice to her Lord and Savior. She was an amazing and dedicated housewife, mother and grandmother, all while being very active in her local church. She loved God with all her heart and soul, and this agape love showed in everything she did and how she loved people. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from, the doors to her home were always open to you. Walking into her house meant you would always be welcomed with a big smile with praise and worship music playing in the background. She would sit you down at her table and bring you a delicious taza de café, o un plato de comida. Her “Tang” juice was amazing just as it was sweet, a true reflection of her indeed! The grandkids will always remember her by her special avena. We’ve all tried to replicate it but it just doesn’t taste the same.
Sitting next to her at church meant being given some candy from the inside of her purse without your mom knowing, and being told it was “our secret”. Her hugs and kisses were indescribable, you always felt better after getting those, especially in combination. Her arroz con dulce that would be made during the holidays was everyone’s favorite. Everything her hands made was amazing because she did it with the most genuine love while singing one of her many favorite songs and in between stirring the spoon there was some speaking in tongues and dancing in the spirit going on. It was a blend of love, adobo, sofrito and anointing in all her recipes. When you came just to say hi and talk, she would always add an “Ay Dito” somewhere in that conversation. You always felt 1,000 times better leaving than when you came. Her love
always felt like a wave coming over you and wrapping you up. She didn’t have to say much to make you feel better because her eyes, distinct smile and laugh did it for her. If you can’t tell by now she was extremely loved and admired by all who had the privilege to meet her; especially her family.
Proverbs 31:10 says “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies”. A virtuous woman she truly was; she led her home with love, understanding, integrity, discipline and so much more.
She lived her life at the pace of God and always wore a smile while living through it.
Her favorite bible verse was Filipenses 4:13 “Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece”.
You could never tell if she was sad or going through something because she always had a smile on her face. She lived her life on her knees in prayer. She truly let go and let God take over all her worries. She trusted always that he would supply her every need. Her love for God showed in how she worshipped him through songs.
She had a few more favorites but these are the ones that made her famous. Her 2 most requested, chart topping, most popular song covers!!! She loved music. She found peace, healing and refuge in music. There’s not many memories of seeing her cry but there is an endless amount of them of hearing her laughing and singing not only at church but at home too.
She will forever be irreplaceable to her family and close friends. Her kindness and gentle spirit touched and changed countless lives. All she ever wanted was to please God in everything she did while on Earth. She has earned her crown and her place at the table.
Like 2 Timothy 4:7-8 says:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
