Bobbie C Militello's Obituary
Bobbie C. Militello, 86, passed away on March 09, 2019. Bobbie’s selfless nature rejoiced in doing for others. She would carefully plan and prepare special meals, beautifully wrap gifts, and maintain lifelong connections with family and friends. These qualities were brought into existence by following the examples of her cherished mother Virginia and learned lessons growing up in tragic conditions of poverty. Her mother’s death marked a heartbreaking and distressing time in Bobbie’s young nineteen year old life. As always, Bobbie soldiered on and completed Business college while rearing her three younger siblings.
Bobbie took pleasure traveling both for visiting with relatives and to experience different locations. Many trips were made to north Georgia to visit her family and share the beautiful country where she lived as a child with her own children. She also traveled through the western US with her daughter Renee'. In 2000, she took her family to Italy and returned there in 2005 with her husband Dave. She fancied the sites and beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, broad vistas of the western US, art and architecture of Italy, and even had a knack for mushroom hunting in the Pacific Northwest. The effect gained by direct observation of both Maggie Vally and Yosemite Vally brought her unforgettable spiritual experiences. She was truly a traveler of both time and space.
Bobbie had a specific individual means of relating to non-human animals. She had a strong affection for red hounds with long velvety ears. Bobbie’s youngest daughter seemed to often come across lost puppies and kittens, and one of these instances resulted in a beloved dog named Bo who was only half hound, but Bobbie held no prejudice for any animal. Later in life, Bobbie was surprised by the warm attachment and devotion she had for her daughter’s cat Kitty. Bobbie was taught to fear cats as a child but she aged with lilting grace and held no fixed worldly views. She also deeply loved the second cat in the household and her other daughter’s kitties. Thus, when Bobbie was asked if she had grandchildren, she proudly replied, “ No, I have grand cats.”
Creative cooking was an area in which Bobbie excelled and enjoyed. She had a true talent for Italian cuisine. She also was creative with fresh vegetables out of the family garden. Also, she loved trying new cusines and the nuance of these exotic foods filled her always exploring spirit. She enjoyed creating unique and delicious dishes that were her own inspirations.
Like most mothers, Bobbie's two children Renee’ and Adele filled her sails which blew her across the sea of years. There are no words to fill this space on a page. As your daughter I can say you will always be the force of my inner tide. You’re sweet water flowing in an endless river.
Bobbie is much loved and will be missed. She inspired many and gave fully of herself. Wherever her spirit soared, she made all feel immersed by the billion glowing ambassadors of life.
Bobbie is survived by loving daughters: Reneé, and Adele (Phillip) Buttolph; and a host of other family and friends.
