Blanche Mary Buono's Obituary
Blanche Mary Buono, born August 6, 1935, died peacefully, at home, on May 17, 2024. She was 87 years old at the time of her passing. Blanche lived at the Tessera of Brandon ALF for the past 3 1/2 years, but her health declined rapidly over the past few months. Blanche was born in Buffalo, NY but her family moved to Hornell in high school due to her father's business. That's where she met her husband of almost 60 years.
Blanche Mary McLean, was one o eight children of Francis "Pat" McLean, and Eric McLean. Blanche graduated from Hornell High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Buono soon after graduation, on September 11, 1954. While Larry went into the Coast Guard, she worked and they had 2 children. After her husband graduated from college in 1962 with his teaching degree, she went to college and also pursued a degree in teaching. She earned her Bachelor's degree in 1969, then went on to earn her Master's degree in 1974. Blanche and Larry, along with their children John and Margaret, moved to East Aurora, NY in 1968 and became teachers in local schools. Blanche taught at the Hamburg, NY high school for most of her career, retiring in 1995.
Blanche is survived by children John Eric Buono, (Ellie) and daughter Margaret Buono-Turchiarelli, (Mike). She has 3 grandchildren, Pam Foster, Lena Dunn and Dominic Turchiarelli and 5 great grandchildren, Liam, Conor and Gemma Dunn, as well as Nick and Avery Dobrick. She also leaves behind, her beloved fur baby, Honey Bear. Blanche loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She especially loved the holidays. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, knitting, and discussing politics. Blanche was very close to her sisters, and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at their cottages on Lake Erie in the summer.
No arrangements have been made at this time. Her family is working on a celebration of life later in the summer, up in the Buffalo area where most of her family resides.
