Billy Don Joyner's Obituary
Billy Don Joyner, 85, of Tampa, passed away on December 26, 2024. He was born and raised in Tampa to John and Annie Lou Joyner. He attended Brewster Technical School, where he excelled in sports, particularly football, where he was a star quarterback. Billy also enjoyed bowling and several other sports.
After high school, he joined the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life; Jo Ann and they were together for 50 years. When Billy left the Army he worked for UPS, driving over 3 million miles for the company before retiring after 30 years of loyal service.
Billy was a family man before he was anything else, and he was an excellent provider for his wife and children, with whom he enjoyed spending all the time he could.
Billy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo Ann; his son, Wayne Joyner; stepdaughter, Judy Webster; 2 sisters, Hazel Rupe and Rita Lee; and a brother, Rondol Joyner.
He is survived by his daughter Faye McCullough, stepdaughters Deborah Hattori, and Barba Aluisy; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2nd, from 5-7 pm, Sunset Funeral Home Chapel; funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3rd, at 11 am, also at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, graveside service with well-deserved military honors will follow at 12 pm, at Sunset Memory Gardens, where Billy will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Jo Ann.
