Billy Charles Carter's Obituary
Billy Charles Carter, of Tampa, FL relocated to his eternal home in heaven to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of March 16, 2023. He was 85 years old. Billy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred (Smith); his three sons and three daughters-in-law, Troy (Jennifer), Steve (Susan), and Michael (Nicki); his 14 grandchildren (plus another grandchild on the way); and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Atlanta, GA on December 31, 1937, Billy was the youngest of four children. His parents, Troy and Lucile Carter, moved the family moved to Dade City, FL in the early 1940s.
Billy went to school in Dade City and graduated from Pasco High School in 1955. He loved sports and was an outstanding baseball player in high school and set several high school pitching records. After high school, he served in the Army and played minor league baseball.
After completing his term of military service, Billy returned to Dade City. He married Mildred in August 1965. Billy and Mildred moved to the Temple Terrace / Tampa area in the late 1960s and have stayed there ever since.
Billy served faithfully in the church for much of his life. Above all, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and he loved his family. His most repeated words to his family members were “I love you, love you, love you”. He was a man of tremendous integrity, gratitude, and generosity. He was gentle, kind, humble, and trustworthy. Though he was a man of few words, Billy’s faith and character spoke volumes. He made a positive impact on so many lives, and he will be greatly, greatly missed by his family and friends.
