Betty J Sears' Obituary
Betty Jane Sears, 88 passed away December 5th, 2022, in Florida with her family by her side.
Betty was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on August 30th, 1934. She was raised by her father Jerry Desiré Martin, a professional performer in the circus as a contortionist. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Betty is survived by her 5 children: daughters Melissa Jeffcoat, Dawn Exum, and Fawn Moore; sons: Guy Sears and Jerry Sears; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her best friend Charmaine Sergent. Betty was predeceased by Guy Sears her husband in 2013, and God Parents of her 5 children, Orville Coleman 1987, and Phyllis Coleman 2020.
Her grandsons Sterling Exum and Gage Sears spent the last few years by her side and loved spending time with her and listening to her many stories of her life adventures! As Betty would say, " The Show Must Go On!"
Betty started her long and eventful life under the big top as a circus performer and trapeze artist. She and her father performed not only in America, but abroad as well. She continued her career into her next adventure in the carnival industry, alongside her husband Guy D. Sears. Betty worked hard and excelled at everything she did. She traveled her whole life before eventually making her home in the state of Florida. She resided in Thonotosassa where she and Guy raised their 5 children, before she later settled in Gibsonton.
Betty loved all animals, her cats especially. Some things she enjoyed were ceramics, macrame, watching old movies, eating great food, and baseball! Her favorite teams being the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays. She also enjoyed music, including Elvis and Frank Sinatra, and playing Bingo.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12th, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thonotosassa at 10:00 a.m.
