Betty Jean Garrett's Obituary
Betty Jean Garrett, 81, of Lutz passed away Friday, June 14, 2019. She was born May 1, 1938 in Newton, NC. She met her would-be husband while working at a diner. They traveled to multiple states before settling in Florida where she ultimately became a homemaker. She was a very loving mother who enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of the family and friends. She loved to fish and throughout life you could find her at Indian Rocks Pier, Gandy Bridge or Ballast Point. She also loved to garden and started her own home-based nursery simply by growing clippings from other plants. She loved cats and had many throughout life but her final furry friend, Missy was her pride and joy. She was a very resourceful, resilent and strong woman.
She is survived by her childen: Carl Garrett, Clay Garrett (Kathy), Cora Chapman, Carol Skaling (Dan). Grandchildren: Teresa (Joe), Clayton Garrett Jr, Daniel Skaling III, Vendela Skaling, Gunnar Skaling, Cheryl Whitt-Thompson (Gregory), Jessica Chapman. Great Grandchildren: Crystal Taylor Garrett, Christopher Garrett, Cora Garrett, Summer Garrett, Mahaley Toliver, Trendyn Thompson and Christian Thompson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cleabourne "Clay" Harrison Garrett and her long-time furry friend, Missy, whom she loved dearly and will be buried with.

Family invites friends for visitation Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 9:30am at Sunset Funeral Home; Graveside services will follow at 11:00am in Sunset Memory Gardens both located at 11005 N, US-301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
