Bernardo Fuentes Cruz's Obituary
Bernardo Fuentes Cruz, 88, passed away November 7, 2017. He was born June 5, 1929 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico to the late Bernardo Fuentes and Candida Cruz. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Lucy.
Bernardo came to Tampa last month after the devastation from hurricanes Irma and Maria on his home in Puerto Rico. He was a devoted Pentecostal, was a business owner, a taxi driver, an electrician, refrigeration technician and a hydroponic gardener. For fun he loved to play guitar and dance. He played guitar up until his final days of life. Music was his life’s passion as well he dedicated himself to the welfare of the community.
Left to cherish he memory are his wife of 57 years Celestina Ortiz; daughter, Mavery Fuentes and her husband Oscar Rivera of Tampa; Sandra Fuentes and her husband Elias of Manchester, New Hampshire; Victor Fuentes and his wife Carmen; Orlando Fuentes; Bernardo Fuentes and his wife Carmen; Brunilda Fuentes and her husband Lorenzo; Ramon Fuentes and his wife Joanne; and Maria Pilar Fuentes which are all living in Puerto Rico; 33 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sunday 10am to 1:00 pm. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592. Interment will be Sunday, November 26th at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.sunset-fh.com. At the request of the family, please do not wear black. Wear only bright colors as Bernardo would have wanted.
