Barbara Jane De Young's Obituary
Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. She was highly involved in her daughters' slow pitch softball league acting as official scorekeeper and treasurer for the Roy Haynes softball league and occasionally assistant coach of her daughters' teams. This led to a love of baseball, and she enjoyed being a Season ticket holder for the Tampa Bay Rays. Barbara also belonged to a bowling league. She so enjoyed going dancing with her husband. Barbara loved to travel and camped with her family in a pop-up trailer at Disney Fort Wilderness and the beach and eventually initiated the purchase of her own beach bungalow. She was a season ticket holder to the Straz and loved musicals. Her favorite restaurant was Charley's Steakhouse.
She is predeceased by her parents, John Parahus and Mildred Werner Parahus. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John De Young, her sister, Lorriane (Dale) Scribner, her three daughters Lorraine (Brian) Brady, Jennifer (Gary) Raulerson, Beverly (Rick) Bosley, and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 5-7pm, at Sunset Funeral Home; funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 6, at 10am, also at Sunset Funeral Home with interment to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, both located at 11005 N US Hwy 301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
