Aurora Margarita Cordeiro-e-Silva's Obituary
Aurora (Aurorita) Margarita Duran Cordeiro-e-Silva
Aurora has taken the final journey to be with her parents and husband. She died on June 2, 2023 in Tampa, Florida.
She was the first-born daughter of Robert and Juanita Sotomayor Duran in Brooklyn, New York. Her younger sister was Elena (Elenita) Duran Nasta who preceded her in death. She grew up in George Washington Heights, New York City, New York, and attended Columbia University.
Aurora was a very beautiful woman. She loved to dance and have fun. She also loved to ice skate, play tennis, play Bridge, bowl, swim, and to shop! She kept playing tennis until she was 85 years old.
She married the very debonaire Harlie Cordeiro-e-Silva in 1950. They were married for 65 years. Both loved to travel and they visited every State in the USA. They traveled to 41 additional countries around the world.
Aurora always wanted to be on the go. She loved to get in her car and go looking for interesting things especially shopping bargains. Often she would buy several items and later return them all. She wanted to give gifts to the family and loved to buy clothes. There were mountains of clothes given at Christmas time…and any other time of year.
Aurora wanted to live to be 100 years old. She could not understand why anyone would let themself die before they were 100 years old. Well, she almost made it - Aurora lived to be the age of 97!
She is survived by two children - Lorinda Cordeiro Fournier and Alan Cordeiro, Alan’s wife Maria, also four grandchildren (Heather, Erin, Kane, and Eva) and seven great-grandchildren (Ellie, Olivia, Abby, Katie, Max, Michael, and Eli).
Interment will be private.
