Annette L. Bacon
A Life Celebration for Annette L. Bacon, who departed this earthly life and ascended to
Heaven on February 22, 2018 while surrounded by her loved ones, will be held on
Saturday, March 3, 2018 - 11:00am at Bible Based Fellowship Church of Temple
Terrace, 8718 N. 46th Street, Tampa, FL 33617, Rev. Dr. Earl B. Mason, Sr. Pastor;
Pastor Clarence Nathan, New Victory Baptist Church, Officiating.
Ms. Annette L. Bacon, was born on September 23, 1939 to Robert and Gladys Bacon in
St. Petersburg, Florida as a twin. Annette was educated in the Pinellas County school
district until the age of sixteen. She was a Majorette and after completing her
sophomore year at Gibbs Sr. High School, she and her Family moved to Tampa. She
attended Middleton Senior High School during her Junior & Senior years and graduated
in 1958. She completed her college education from Hillsborough Community College
and the University of South Florida. Her thirty-three years spent as an Educator in the
Hillsborough County School District included initially working in the Cafeteria at Jackson
Heights Elementary school and being hired as the school’s first Head Start Instructor.
She then transferred to Belle Witter Elementary School as one of three Head Start
Instructors, upon which she remained until retirement. She not only taught and
positively touched the lives of her initial students, but also had the pleasure to teach the
children of many of her prior students. One of her proudest accomplishments was being
selected as the Ida S. Baker Teacher of the Year and representing the State of Florida
at the National level held in Chicago, where she had the honor to meet and participate
in a panel with Oprah Winfrey. Her creativity was always at the forefront in making
learning engaging and memorable for her students. She was also recognized by NASA
when she and her students created and replicated a life-sized space shuttle in her
classroom to culminate their learning of the space system.
Annette attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1970’s and was
anointed with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. She continued to obtain spiritual and
biblical education by attending and completing two years of a three year Bible College
Program in December 2017, through Faith Bible Institute, where she maintained
excellent grades. She thoroughly enjoyed talking about the Lord, sharing her
experiences and providing words of wisdom. Whether you knew her intimately or
meeting as a stranger - the words that always flowed freely from her mouth before
anything else were: “HALLELUJAH!” and “PRAISE THE LORD!” She enjoyed cooking,
sewing, being crafty and spending time with her immediate and Church Families. She
was an active member of New Victory Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor
Clarence Nathan, where she was proud to be on the Mother Board, Outreach
Community and Hospitality Committees. Annette led a fulfilling life and provided
unconditional love to her Family. She prepared wholeheartedly for the day she would
leave this earth to make it to that Kingdom Land called Heaven.
