Anita Fransika Zenah Mitchell Davis died at the age of ninety-two on July 5, 2023 in Plant City, Florida. She lived a blessed and happy life, leaving a rich legacy of love, service, dedication and commitment to family, friends, and community.
Anita was born on November 28, 1930 in Tableland, Trinidad and Tobago to Virginia Britton and Matthew Francis Mitchell. She was employed in the health and education fields, and returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst fulfilling her lifelong dreams of becoming a nurse. This woman who embodied strength then worked for years as a registered nurse (RN) in Massachusetts before retiring to Florida. In Florida, she was active in a community of retired Caribbean-American nurses, hosted various gatherings of family and friends, and enjoyed her good life. Anita lived the last several years of her life with her daughter, Gwyneth in Plant City, Florida.
An outstanding role model, Anita was not only a nurse, but also an excellent cook, a self-taught seamstress and a remarkable gardener. More than anything else, she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a beloved sister, and an inspiration to her family, friends and community. Wise and compassionate, this born caregiver was always happy to give sage advice and a warm hug to whoever needed one.
Anita’s husband George, and her siblings: Clementina Mollineau, Dorothy Mollineau, Lorna Grayson, Kenneth Mitchell and Kenrick Mitchell, predeceased her.
