Amanda really saw kids. She saw them in a way that other teachers may have overlooked or in ways they couldn’t see themselves yet. This is extremely powerful at the Middle School level. To have someone see you when you’re just starting to see the world through these “big kid” eyes. And Amanda was a big, bright, bold kid too. She knew how to laugh with her students and cry with her students. She inspired me and continues to inspire me - as a teacher and as a human being. The amount of love she had for everyone, you could feel it radiating from her. Her impact at Collins (and in the world) was so great - her presence will be missed by so many.
Amanda was the very first friend I made at college and we bonded over being from Staten Island. I will miss her sense of humor and her warm smile. Even when we didn't talk for long periods of time, when we did talk it felt like no time had passed. I am truly sorry for everyone's loss.
I’m so devastated to hear this news :( I have been doing amanda’s hair since she was a teenager, so i have gotten to watch her grow up through so many phases of life! My sweet, crazy girl. Our appointments were filled with so much laughter. i will miss you ❤️

My kid couldn’t stop crying because she lost the one person who welcomed her to this country with love and open hands . The one teacher who took time out of her busy schedule to make her notes in Spanish so she could understand. Heaven has gained an angel and you will forever be in my kid heart . Flight high queen 👑 . I’ve never had a teacher as special as she was, and I will never have one the same. Mrs.Wright never gave up on us, she cared for us as she would her own children.One of the saddest parts is I and many more people never got to say goodbye or say our appreciation for her. She would want all of us to do our best in everything we do, and to care for each other.I am so sorry for your loss, and I know she is watching us grow from heaven.

You were one of my favorite teachers, thank you for always being extra nice to me and for always hyping me up when I was anxious about testing. You always brought joy to my day and I was always excited to go to your class. Thank you for being a positive experience in school for me, you were a great role model. I will miss you very much, I hope you are looking down and can continue to watch me grow.

Amanda and I may have had physical distance between us for most of our friendship but our hearts were always close. We have been friends since we were young girls who met at tennis camp, spending every day that summer together. I'll never forget our first sleepover. We went to Barnes & Noble near my house and you bought me a fresh copy of my favorite Harry Potter book since mine had broken in the binding. It still sits on my shelf here with your inscription in it. We acted like a babbling bumbling band of baboons drinking root beer from glass bottles (a must!) and eating popcorn while we watched movies and Degrassi episodes. When you would come up to NY we would play with the puppies at the mall, or go to the beach. I will always cherish the memory of our late night phone conversations, or when you'd call me when you had a long drive so we could catch up. Our inside jokes that brought us so many smiles and laughs. I'll miss your face forever.
