Alice Davis' Obituary
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Alice Marie Davis, 83, of Riverview, Florida, who passed away peacefully at her home on March 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Alice was born on November 16, 1942, in Hillsboro, Ohio, to Chester Alva Florea and Elizabeth West Florea.
Alice met her first love, Chester L. Davis, in Ohio in 1959. Shortly afterward, they moved to Florida, where they married and built a beautiful life together. In 1967, they welcomed their daughter, Cristal Ann Davis.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. “Chet” Davis (1995); her parents, Chester Alva Florea and Elizabeth West Florea; her four sisters, Anna Price, Mary Miley, Sharon Amburgey, and Pauline Florea; and her two brothers, Paul Florea and Robert Florea.
She is survived by her daughter, Cristal Davis Higgins, son-in-law Christopher Higgins, her granddaughters, Paige Higgins, and Addison Higgins, all of Valrico; her brother, Roger Florea of Shreveport, Louisiana; and her companion, Matt Street of Riverview, Florida.
Alice was truly a force to be reckoned with. She was a spirited woman and a constant inspiration, known for her no-nonsense, straightforward attitude and her belief that she could accomplish anything she set her mind to. She faced life’s many challenges with determination, strength, and resilience.
Alice was a dedicated member of the Women of the Moose, serving as a Life Member since 1977 with Chapter #1031 of Riverview Lodge #2158. She was also a longtime member of the Riverview Red Hatters.
Throughout her life, Alice was known for her strong work ethic and friendly personality. She worked for many years as a successful Stanley Home Products representative. Later Alice spent 20 years working at the Riverview Sandwich Shop, where she became a familiar and friendly face to many in the community.
Alice will be remembered for her strength, her determination, the comfort, joy and love she shared with family and friends. Her presence was a guiding light to many and her memory will forever be a blessing. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service celebrating Alice's life will be held Saturday, March 28 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, located at 11005 N US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida. Visitation will take place from 12:30 to 2:00 with the service starting at 2:00. Gravesite services will be immediately after at 3:00. Following the gravesite service , friends and family will gather at the Rotary Club of Brandon, 3007 S. Kings Ave Brandon, FL 33511 to celebrate her life with food, stories, and cherished memories.
