Abigail Oluwakorede Adewunmi's Obituary
Abigail Oluwakorede Adewunmi, known lovingly by her family as Koko and by her friends as
Abby, passed away the morning of January 12, 2022, at St. Joseph’s hospital in Tampa, FL. She
was 16 years old.
Abby was born on June 18, 2005, in Coral Springs, FL. Her family relocated to Tampa, FL just
prior to Abby’s fourth birthday. As she grew up, she developed a passion for learning,
photography, activism and justice, and travel. Abby was a phenomenal and driven student. She
attended King High School as a pre-IB student. She was quietly competitive in her schooling,
knowing her older brother Daniel attended the same school and tracking her GPA versus his.
However, her interests in these paled in comparison to her love for her family. Abby sought out
every opportunity to spend time with her family, from binging 8 hours of television to
scheduling family game nights. She was well-known to be happy with any activity as long as her
family was involved.
Abby also possessed a commitment to her faith well-beyond that of a typical 16-year-old. She
was a fervent participant in Teen Bible Quiz, memorizing entire books of the bible. Her trust in
the Lord served as an example to many, both older and younger than her.
Abby is survived by her two parents, Adeniyi and Mopelola, her older brothers, Mo and Daniel,
and her dog, Clifford. She is remembered for her resiliency and her quiet strength and
determination. She possessed a drive and a grace well-beyond her years and her ability to
weather any trial without flinching is an inspiration to many. She will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and
Memory Gardens at 1:30pm.
Sunset Address: 11005 US-301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592
