Audrey Ursula Monsanto
October 21, 1926 - January 22, 2022
Audrey Ursula Monsanto passed away at the age of 95 on January 22, 2022, in Tampa, Florida. She was born on October 21, 1926, in Port of Spain, Trinidad. She was the daughter of Eric and Marie Steele. Audrey was married to her loving husband, Cyril (deceased) and had two daughters, Tracy Brady (Donald) and Lisa-Marie Monsanto. She was the proud grandmother to Paul Monsanto and Rebecca Reid (Ryan) and great-grandmother (Gran Gran) to Preston Reid. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 29, 2022. She was preceded in death by her siblings Selwyn Steele, Pat Steele, Zelma Richards, and David Steele. With much love she leaves behind to cherish her memories sisters-in-law Jacqueline Steele, Shirley Steele, several nieces and nephews and a host of other very close family members and friends. In her working years she was an insurance executive and was a minority in a predominantly male dominated work environment. Audrey was kind, strong, determined and extremely devoted to family. She loved the line that referenced her maiden name, “Steeles may bend but they don’t break!” Another quote of hers is, “All is well, all shall be well.” Perhaps her most famous one is, “Stop talking nonsense!” She loved her home of Trinidad and its people. When she heard any Caribbean music, she was always ready, walker and all, to chip along. We will always remember her elegance, her grace, her strength and the resilience that carried her throughout her life’s journey. We thank you for all the LOVE Audrey.
