Dr. Andres "Andy" R. Ticzon

November 10, 1940 - February 19, 2022

Dr. Andres “Andy” R. Ticzon, a Cardiologist from Tampa, FL unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the age of 81 years old. Son of Agrapino and Nicholasa Ticzon, Andy was born on November 10, 1940, in San Pablo City, Philippines. He accomplished his medical degree from Manila Central University College of Medicine in 1965 and was awarded the most outstanding graduate by the Philippine Medical Association. Dr. Ticzon specialized in cardiovascular disease and Internal Medicine and completed his residency training at Duke University. He later moved to Pittsburg, PA and became the Chief of Cardiology at St. Francis Hospital and acted as the chairman of the American Heart Association in Pittsburgh. He was presented with the Laureate Award for Commitment to Excellence in Medical Care by the American College of Physicians on October 15, 1993. After a few unsuccessful attempts to retire, Dr. Ticzon continued to practice medicine at Geisinger Hospital in Wilks Barre, PA. Dr. Ticzon enjoyed gardening, singing, reading, painting, and traveling amongst other hobbies during his spare time. He was involved in many organizations, including the Angklong Ensemble and St. Mark’s Philippine Choir Group; and was President of the Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh. N addition, he volunteered at the Judeo Clinic and in several medical missions to the Philippines. Andy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He devoted his life to spreading God’s word through helping others and kindness. He is survived by his wife Felilia, son Marc Andre and his wife Nadia, and grandchildren DeMiko, KaMila, and his little dog Finnegan. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and by all the lives he touched. A memorial mass for Andy will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Mark Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Blvd, Tampa, FL.
