I remember hearing Fr Steve at Mary Help of Christians announce at Sunday mass Zenaida and Geronimo’s 66th Wedding anniversary. They were such a beautiful couple! Then shortly thereafter, I heard again at Mary Help Of Christians Sunday mass that Geronimo had passed away. After mass, I went to offer my condolences to Zenaida, and she smiled and smiled and smiled at me and gave me hugs. She was so sweet! She made me feel loved!
Sometime later, Zenaida was at a nursing home for rehab. I remember visiting her there one day after work, she was so happy to see me. I took her outdoors in a wheelchair and she loved the fresh air outside. And I remember how happy she was when her family arranged at the nursing home a beautiful birthday party for her! She looked absolutely radiant! She was so happy! If there’s anything I remember about Zenaida, it’s her beautiful warm smile that always made me feel welcome and loved.
May God rest her soul. I am praying for her and for solace and comfort to her family.
